Miniatures painted on feathers

Custom Orders

If you are interested in a custom order, please read below and fill out the form, which lists options and pricing. I will get in touch within a few days and we'll get started on your project. Thanks so much!

Things that DO work well on feathers:

  • Pet portraits (with the option of anthropomorphizing them)
  • Meaningful objects (i.e. a pair of boots, a skull, a banjo)
  • Symbols (i.e. astrological signs, cross, treble clef)
  • Animals, insects, plants, and people
  • Your creative, colorful ideas (the more unusual, the better. bring on the weirdness.)

Things that do NOT work well on feathers:

  • Extensive lettering (a few words, a name, or a date added to a painting are fine and work well)
  • Large objects with lots of straight lines, squares or perfect circles (i.e. buildings, solid geometric shapes)
  • Corporate logos or trademarked images
  • Landscapes or scenery

  • Allow 2 months for completion. This is especially true as the holidays approach, so place orders for Christmas by October to be sure I can be done in time. I often complete paintings ahead of schedule, but sometimes have that long waiting list, so please plan ahead just in case.

Email Proofs:

  • I will email or text photos of the work as it is in progress to ask questions about colors, details, and matting choices.
  • I will email or text a photo of the completed work for your approval before shipping or arranging local pickup.

  • I have a limited number of frame choices available if you choose to add framing to a 5x7 or larger piece (typically a choice between a black or natural wood frame). I finish the back with kraft paper and hanging wire. If shipping, I highly recommend skipping the framing and ordering a matted ready-to-frame piece. It will save considerably on shipping.

Pricing and Payment:

  • Full payment due at time of shipping or pickup (no deposit required).
  • I accept PayPal, all major credit cards, and cash or check for local pickup.
  • Pricing is for standard requests. (Subjects that are more complex may have an additional fee)
